Stillwater Sunrise Rotary celebrated the 90th birthday of our own Bob Rupp. We were joined by the Rupp Family including son Bob II, daughters Cindy, Vicky, Lorna and Bob's wife Mattie.

Orwin Carter, former Rotary president, detailed what the world was like when Bob was born in 1918: first daylight savings time, GM acquired Chevrolet, Cloquet Fire etc…

His son Bob spoke of his service in World War II, hunting experiences with Polar Bears and the Alaskan salmon which was stolen by a killer whale.

Sister Vicky talked of living in Quonset Huts, and how it was that the Rupp family ,as they traveled along, were expected to name what kind of cow it was and whether the crop was wheat, oats or barley even when it was a few inches high. And of course, who else had the pleasure of having a deer dressed in their basement.

Lorna, the younger sister, remembered asking dad while jogging  in ’68, how surprised she was to hear her Dad was 50. Then what was the most frightening thing about being 50, “watching the children grow old!”

It was a wonderful celebration!!!!!
