FFH - Opportunity to be part of Delegation #5 to Nicaragua

Dear Rotarians:
 
I am writing to inform you that applications are now open for our next Fast for Hope delegation to Nicaragua which is scheduled for May 7 thru May 17th.  Once again we hope that this delegation will consist of Rotarians who have not previously been to Nicaragua as well as some returning Rotarians.  This will probably be the final delegation this year that we will be seeking delegates for.
 
The purpose of this delegation will be:

  1. To learn about the history and culture of Nicaragua.
  2. To continue to deepen our district's relationship with the Masaya Rotary Club,
  3. To continue to learn about our model for sustainable economic development,
  4. To participate in one or more projects with the Masaya Rotary Club, and
  5. Have fun and experience some of the beauty of Nicaragua.

The cost to each Rotarians should not exceed $1,300.  Each Rotarian will pay for their own airfare (this is the biggest variable), food, lodging, entry and exit fees and any other miscellaneous expenses.  The district will pay for in country transportation, translators and for Kairos (our NGO) who will accompany the delegation and facilitate the trip.
 
Everyone who has been on previous delegations has found this to be a very rewarding experience.  On Delegation #4, that just returned February 1, were six Rotarians who had never been to Nicaragua before.  They are:

The only requirement is that you have previously attended one of our Fast for Hope training sessions and that you be a member of District 5960  (In the future we will be opening this to friends and family members, but NOT for this delegation.)  Knowledge of Spanish is NOT required.
 
If you want to be considered as a delegate then please submit an application to me either electronically or by U.S. Mail, to the addresses below by March 1, 2009.  Attached are two forms of the application.  One if you want to complete it electronically and the other if you want to complete it by hand.  Selection of the team will be completed by March 20.
