The Club enjoyed an opportunity to visit with the STRIVE Students and their Mentors

13 of the 20 STRIVE Students from this year's class joined us for breakfast today.  In addition, their mentors (many of them non-Rotarian volunteers) also joined us for the meeting.  Pete Smith, STRIVE Program Chair, introduced the students and the mentors and President-Elect, Mark Fisher gave an excellent review of Rotary, our club's service projects and the importance of the 4-Way Test and fellowship in our lives.  The school year is half over and these STRIVE Students will continue to work hard towards graduation and beyond.

STRIVE Class of 2011

Thank you to Pete Smith for organizing the STRIVE program.  Thank you to the Mentors for volunteering your time to work with these great young people.  And thank you to the Students for their dedication to the program - we are proud of them!

STRIVE stands for Students Taking Renewed Interest in the Value of Education.

STRIVE is a program where rotarians and non-rotarians mentor high school students in the lower part of their senior class with emphasis on preparing them for their post graduation opportunities and responsibilities while working with them to improve their grade point in their senior year.  Our goal is to motivate eligible Stillwater High School seniors to discover their own strengths and talents so as to increase their personal and academic achievement.  Further incentives are offered through scholarships for students to further their education.
