Club members enjoy some music from the students

We began our meeting with the introduction of Dennis Lindsay, the SAHS Band Director.   Dennis first thanked our club and specifically Mark and Val Fisher for approaching the high school in 2006 about starting the Pep Band.  Our support has helps the group purchase 40 pieces of music ($60/piece) and helped to refurbish several instruments.

The band begins rehearsing in early August.  It is a student run organization.  The band works with the “Pony Posse” to decide which songs to play.  Dennis credits the Pep Band for fusing the student body during games and pep rallies – instilling an improved sportsmanship and an enhanced school spirit.  “It feels like an old-fashion pep rally.”

5 band members attended the meeting and played for the club: Pep Band Presidents Ingrid Larson and Lukah Wesloh along with Alli Wilmes, Charlie Martin and Max Richie.  They played The Stillwater Fight Song (S-T-I-L-L-H-2-O), Louie Louie, You Can Feel It All Over by Stevie Wonder and Hey Baby.  They sounded great.  Dennis encouraged the club members to join in and sign.  We now know why Stillwater Sunrise is not a signing club!

Thank you to Dennis Lindsay and the students for a lively beginning to our day.
